Covid-19 Policy
UPDATED December 12, 2021
Over a year ago, Temple Beth Shalom closed its building to visitors, due to the COVID-19 pandemic. We took this step to protect the health of our members and others who may have wished to join us. During the shutdown we had the services of Rabbi Carl Choper to help us through this difficult time. Rabbi Choper had also been leading services, on Zoom, every other Friday at 7:15.
In the Fall of 2021, TBS reopened its building for hybrid Shabbat Services and for High Holiday Services. We continued with hybrid Shabbat Services through December 2021, but have chosen to close the building again, due to the continuing COVID pandemic. Continuation of the pandemic has been aggravated by:
· The emergence of the Omicron variant
· Inability by our public officials to promote sound public health
· Resistance by an alarming percentage of our neighbors to getting vaccinated against COVID.
Our building will be closed to services through March, 2022. Before then, we will re-evaluate the status of the pandemic. Depending on conditions, we may re-open TBS for hybrid Friday Night Services and other events, with COVID protocols that will be responsive to public health guidance at that time.
Of one thing we are certain. If you have not yet been vaccinated and are eligible to do so, please get vaccinated. If you have been vaccinated, but not yet received a booster, please do so. TBS supports the CDC recommendations and the recommendations from the PA Department of Health. If you have questions about getting vaccinated, talk with your doctor or medical provider.
